Why I like Direct Democracy.

Everybody has something which gets them turned on to go fast.

So it is with me, that I don't get excited about  special days. Canada Day, BC Day are no big deal to me in the least.

And I admit that I was no patriot and in fact I believed the scraping the country was the best thing that could happen to it.
That is until it was pointed out to me the benefits of retaining the nation but giving the politics a little tweak.

I was sold on the Swiss system of DIRECT DEMOCRACY which is hated by politicians yet is loved by the voters.  In that system politicians are mere servants and not big shots.  Their system is Proportional Representation and elections are very poorly attended.
WHY??
BECAUSE IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO GETS ELECTED BECAUSE THE VOTERS HAVE FINAL SAY ON ANYTHING THAT POLITICIANS DO (or don't do as the case may be if the voters want something that the politicians can't seem to get around to) AND CAN UNDO ANYTHING BY VOTER INITIATED REFERENDUMS.

Yeah.  Voter rule.
I'm liking that.  Liking it a lot.
